0:00 Introduction
In this episode you sign in to your business's back office with your Lighthouse account. Then you add a passkey, and sign in with it instead of typing a password.
0:10 Signing in with Lighthouse
This is the back office of Delta Auth Co, on the business's own address. Under the usual email and password there is a button: Sign in with Lighthouse.
Lighthouse is the account you made when you signed up. Tap the button.
You move to the Lighthouse sign-in page, which says which business you are signing in to. Type your email and your password.
Press Sign in. Lighthouse sends you straight back to the back office.
You are in the back office, signed in as the owner. There was no second password to remember.
0:45 Adding a passkey
Now for the passkey. A passkey lets you sign in with your fingerprint, your face or a security key. You add one from the console.
Sign in to the console as usual.
At the top right is a key button called Passkeys. Tap it.
The page lists your passkeys. You have none yet. Give this one a name you will recognise, such as Work laptop.
Adding a passkey needs your password again. If you use an authenticator app, there is a box for its code too. We do not use one, so we leave it empty.
Press Add a passkey. Your device asks you to confirm, with a fingerprint or a face scan. Here the confirmation happens by itself.
Work laptop now appears in the list. You can add several, one for each device you use.
1:37 Signing in with the passkey
Let's try it. Open the console again. It starts at the sign-in page.
On the sign-in page, choose Sign in with Lighthouse.
Type only your email, then choose Sign in with a passkey. No password, and no code.
You are in the console. The same works for the back office: its Sign in with Lighthouse button takes you to this page too.
That is single sign-on and passkeys. In the next season we look at the cloud console, starting with signing up a new business.
