Payments

Take every payment, even on a bad day

Connect your own account at the payment provider you choose, put card readers on your registers, and keep taking cards when one processor stops answering.

  • Your own provider account
  • A backup reader per register
  • Refunds to the card

Connect your own account

Choose the payment provider that suits your business and your country, and connect your own account at it. Where a provider offers it, you sign in on its own page; otherwise you enter the keys it gave you. Keys are checked with the provider when you save them, and are never shown again. A test connection moves no money, so you can practise first.

  • Your own account, your own keys
  • Test before you go live
  • Limit a connection to some stores

Thirteen providers, in store, online or both

Each provider shows the countries it works in, and whether it takes payments in the store, online, or both. Beta marks a newer connection: try it with a test account before you rely on it. Provider names belong to their owners. Lighthouse Retail is not certified by, or endorsed by, any of these providers.

  • Stripe
  • Adyen (Beta)
  • Helcim (Beta)
  • Braintree (Beta)
  • Moneris (Beta)
  • SumUp (Beta)
  • Authorize.net (Beta)
  • Checkout.com (Beta)
  • Mollie (Beta)
  • Square (Beta)
  • PayPal (Beta)
  • Windcave (Beta)

Card readers, paired with a code

Add a reader to a store in a minute. The steps on screen are the provider's own, and a reader that cannot be reached says so. Each register keeps a list of the readers it may use: its main reader first, and backups after.

  • Pair with the code the reader shows
  • Bring in readers your provider already has
  • Or add a reader by its id

When a processor stops answering

If a provider has an outage, the register says so and keeps the other ways to pay ready. A manager switches the register to its backup reader, even one on another provider, with a PIN, and cards work again.

  • The register tells the cashier
  • Cash and the standalone terminal stay ready
  • A manager switches with their PIN

Refunds go back to the card

Return something paid for by card and the money goes back to the card it came from, in full or in part where the provider allows it. Where a card can only be refunded with the card in hand, the register says so and asks for it on the reader.

Your online store, the same way

Choose which of your connections the online store takes card payments through. The page says what the connection does with the card, held until you accept the order or charged at once, and warns you when a live store is on a test connection.

Cash, made easy

Quick-tap amounts for the notes customers actually hand over, with the change worked out and shown big enough to read at a glance.

Your payment types, your rules

Cash, card, gift card, store credit, house account and cheque come ready to use, and you can add your own.
