Transcript

Today's numbers, trends, top sellers, low stock and open work at a glance, and how to change the period and the store.

0:00 Introduction

The dashboard is the first thing you see when you sign in to the back office. In this episode we read it, change what it covers, and use it to jump to the things that need your attention.

0:12 The key numbers

The big tiles at the top are your key numbers for the period you have chosen. Revenue is the money taken before tax, with the amount including tax underneath.

Next to it are the number of sales, and the average sale. Then your gross profit, which is revenue minus what the goods cost you, with the margin as a percentage.

Items sold counts units, with returns taken off. Discounts shows how much you gave away, and how much tax you collected.

The second row looks at the state of the business right now. The number of identified customers. The value of your inventory at cost. How many products are at or below their reorder point.

Then open work orders, open layaways, sales waiting for offline review, and registers or scanners that are holding sales which have not synced yet.

1:03 Charts and top sellers

Scroll down for the charts. Revenue by day shows each day as a bar, so you can see busy days and quiet days. Payment mix shows how customers paid: card, cash, on account, or gift card.

Underneath are your top products by revenue, and your top categories. The bars are scaled against the best seller, so you see at a glance how close the others are.

Each list has a Full report button for the whole story. We cover reports in the next episode.

1:34 Changing the period and the store

At the top right, the date range decides what every number covers. Open it, and choose Last 7 days.

Every tile and chart now covers the last week. You can also pick today, yesterday, this month, last month, this year, or a custom range of your own.

The outlet button next to it limits the dashboard to one store. Choose Main Street.

Now you are looking at that one store only. The refresh button, next to it, reloads the numbers.

2:06 Jumping to what needs attention

Many tiles are shortcuts. Click Low stock to go straight to the low stock report.

Back on the dashboard, click Open work orders to go to the work order board. Offline review and Unsynced devices work in the same way, and take you to the pages that deal with them.

That is the dashboard. In the next episode, we look at the reports behind these numbers.
