Loss prevention and offline review

Voids, refunds and overrides by person, and sales rung offline.

Transcript

Voids, refunds and overrides by employee with a risk score, and the page for sales rung up offline that need a second look.

0:00 Introduction

Most staff are honest, and most mistakes are honest mistakes. This page helps you see what stands out. In this episode we read the loss prevention page, follow one employee into the audit journal, and look at the offline review page.

0:16 The loss prevention page

Scroll the menu on the left and open Loss prevention. It is built from the audit journal, and lists exceptions for each employee, riskiest first.

The tiles at the top count the exceptions in the period. The highest risk score and who has it. Items removed from a cart, and their value. No-sale drawer opens, and carts cleared.

Then voids, and how many of them were refunds without a receipt. Price overrides, and changes to catalogue prices. And sales rung up offline, with the number of manager approvals.

The date range and outlet buttons narrow it down, and Export CSV saves it as a spreadsheet.

0:58 Reading the risk score

Below is a row for every employee. The columns count each kind of exception, and the first one is the risk score, with a colour: low, medium or high.

A note under the table explains the score. Items removed count one point. Price overrides two. No-sale drawer opens three, and voids three. Refunds without a receipt count four.

The page is careful to say that a high score is a prompt to look closer, not proof of wrongdoing. A busy cashier who handles a lot of returns will score higher than someone who sells very little.

1:34 Recent exceptions

Scroll down to see Recent exceptions. Each one says what happened, who did it, who approved it, and when. One of them is a sale voided by Casey Cashier and approved by Morgan Manager, with the reason that was typed.

The Open journal button takes you to the full audit journal.

1:52 Following one employee

To investigate, scroll back up and click an employee. We click Casey Cashier.

The audit journal opens, already filtered to that person, and to the same period. Now you can read every action they took, one by one, as we saw in the last episode.

2:10 Offline review

Registers keep selling when the internet is down, and send their sales later. Usually everything lines up. When it does not, the sale needs a person to look at it.

The Offline review page lists the sales that did not reconcile when they synced, so that someone can look at them. The number on the tab shows how many are waiting.

Right now, no offline sales are waiting. All caught up. When someone has dealt with a sale, it moves to the Resolved tab, so you keep a record.

The dashboard also has a tile for offline review, so you will notice when something is waiting.

That is loss prevention. In the next episode, we look at your registers and scanners, and fix sync problems.
