Transfers

Moving stock between outlets from the back office.

Transcript

Move stock from one outlet to another from the back office: create the transfer, send it, and receive it at the other end.

0:00 Introduction

When one store has stock that another store needs, you move it with a transfer. In this episode we create a transfer in the back office, send it, and receive it at the other end.

0:12 The transfers list

In the menu, under Inventory, choose Transfers.

This list shows every transfer. You can search by number or by notes, filter by store, and filter by status: draft, sent, received, or cancelled. There are no transfers yet, so let us make one.

0:31 Creating a transfer

Click New transfer.

A transfer has a from store and a to store. The page reminds you that stock leaves the source store when the transfer is sent. We are moving stock out of Main Street, so we choose that as the from store.

And the to store is Harbor Mall.

A note helps the people at the other end. We write that this is a restock for the weekend.

Now the products. Click Add product. The list shows how many are on hand at the store the stock is coming from.

We choose the size M hoodie.

And then the size L.

Each line shows the stock on hand at the source store, the quantity to send, and the cost value. We send two of the size M, and one of the size L.

Click Save draft.

The transfer has a number, and the status Draft. Nothing has moved yet. You can still change the lines, or cancel it.

1:32 Sending

When the box is ready to go, click Send.

The back office tells you what will happen. The units are taken off the stock at Main Street now, and held in transit until Harbor Mall receives them. Click Send.

The status is now Sent. A message explains that the stock has left Main Street, and will be added to Harbor Mall when it is received. The page records when it was sent, and how many units are in the box.

1:59 Receiving

When the box arrives, someone at Harbor Mall receives it. They can use a scanner, as we saw in the stock room season, or do it here. Click Receive.

The dialog lists what was sent. Count what arrived, and type it in the Received column. If something is missing, the Short column shows the difference. Everything arrived fills in every line for you.

We count three units, as sent. Click Receive three of three.

The transfer is complete. The stock has been added at Harbor Mall, and the page shows when it was received.

In the next episode, we count the shelves and apply the variances.
