Content pages, the store menus, smart collections, blog articles and search engine settings.

0:00 Introduction

In this episode we add content to the online store: a page, a collection that fills itself, a blog article, and a menu that links them together.

0:11 A page

Under Online store, Pages is for the content that is not a product: about us, delivery information, contact details. This store has no pages yet. Press New page.

Give the page a title, About us. The address, called the handle, is made from the title if you leave it empty.

The content is written in HTML. A heading and a short paragraph will do.

Below are the Visible switch and the search engine fields. The SEO title and description are what search engines show for this page. Fill them in, and press Save.

The page is in the list, with its address on the shop.

0:46 A collection that fills itself

Now Collections. Earlier you saw collections you fill by hand. A smart collection fills itself from rules. Press New collection.

Call it Under 25 dollars. Instead of picking products, choose Match rules.

Scroll down and press Add a rule. A rule has a field, a condition and a value. The fields include category, brand, tag, title, price and whether the product is in stock. We will choose Price, less than, twenty five.

Press Save. The collection is listed as Smart, filled by rules. Products you add later at that price will join it by themselves.

1:25 A blog

Next, the blog. Open Blog and press New blog. A blog is a place for news and stories. Call it News.

Save. The blog is listed with its number of articles, none yet. Press New article.

Give the article a title and an author, and a short excerpt, which shoppers see in the list.

Add the text of the article.

Scroll down to Publishing. Draft keeps it private, Schedule publishes it later, and Published makes it visible now. Choose Published and press Save.

2:01 The menu

Now a menu, so shoppers can find all this. Open Menus and press New menu. The theme shows the menu whose handle is main menu in the header.

Press Add a link and fill in a title and an address for each one. Shop all, our Under 25 dollars collection, the About us page and the News blog.

A link can have sub-links, up to three levels, and the arrows move a link up or down. Press Save.

2:30 Search engines

One more thing for search engines. On the Overview page, scroll to the Search engines card. This is the title and description of the whole shop, which search engines show for the home page.

Fill in both and press Save changes. Products, collections, pages and articles each have their own SEO fields too.

2:53 On your shop

Let us look at the shop. The header now has the menu we made.

The About us link opens the page, with the content we wrote.

The Under 25 dollars collection lists only the products that cost less than that.

And the News blog shows our article, with its excerpt.

Your store now has content of its own. In the next episode we set shipping and tax for every region you sell to.
