Shelf and price labels with barcodes.

Shelf and price labels with barcodes.

0:00 Introduction

In this episode we print labels for the shelf: a name, a price and a barcode that the register can scan.

0:08 The Labels page

Open Labels from the Catalog group. The page starts empty. You build a list of labels to print, then print or download them.

There are two ways to add. Add item picks one variant at a time. All variants of a product adds every size and colour of a product in one go. You can also open this page from a purchase order, to print labels for what has arrived.

0:32 Adding a whole product

Click All variants of a product.

Choose any variant of the product, and every variant of it is added. We choose the Classic Cotton Tee.

The heading says twelve labels for twelve items. Each row has the name, the SKU, the barcode and the price, and a number of copies.

0:52 How many copies

Each variant has one copy to start with. Use the plus and minus buttons, or type a number, to print more. For example, three labels for a size you are putting on the shelf three times.

Copies equals on hand sets each row to the number you have in stock at this store, and drops the items you have none of. That is handy after a delivery. Clear empties the list.

1:16 Size and content

Scroll down for the layout. Label size is the paper your printer uses.

The choices include rolls of several widths for a label printer, and sheets for an ordinary printer, in A4 or letter size. We choose the A4 sheet, with three columns and eight rows.

The chips beside it choose what is printed on each label: the name, the variant, the barcode, the price and the SKU. Tap one to switch it off. We will leave the SKU off, to keep the label tidy.

1:48 The preview

Underneath is a preview of the pages, exactly as they will print. Each label has the product name, the size and colour, a barcode, and the price.

1:58 Printing

At the top right are two buttons. Print sends the labels to your printer. Download P D F saves them as a file, which you can print later or send to a print shop. Let's download.

Print the labels, stick them on, and your shelf is ready. A scanner or the register can read these barcodes.

That is labels. In the next episode, we set up price books, for different prices for different customers.
