The three apps (back office, register, scanner), what each is for, and a tour of the back office.

0:00 Introduction

Welcome to Lighthouse. In this first episode we look at what the system is, and take a short tour of the back office, where you run your business.

0:08 The three apps

Lighthouse is made of three apps that share one set of information. When you change a price in one, every other app sees it.

The register is where you sell. Cashiers use it on a tablet or a computer to scan products, take payment and print receipts.

The scanner is for the stock room. On a phone or a handheld scanner you check prices, receive deliveries and count stock.

And the back office is what you are looking at now. It is a website for managers and owners. This is where you set the store up, manage products, and read the reports.

0:44 The dashboard

When you sign in, you land on the dashboard. It answers one question: how is the business doing?

The tiles along the top show revenue, the number of sales, the average sale, gross profit and items sold for the period you choose.

Underneath are the things that need attention: how many products are low on stock, open work orders, layaways, and any sales waiting for review.

Use the outlet button to look at one store, or leave it on all outlets to see the whole business together.

Scroll down and you get revenue by day, a payment mix showing cash against cards, and your best selling products and categories.

1:23 The menu

The menu on the left is grouped by the job you are doing. The first group is Sell. Sales is every sale the registers have rung, which you can open to see the lines and payments.

Customers, gift cards and work orders are here too.

Next is Catalog. Products is the list of everything you sell, with its price and how much stock is on hand. Categories, brands, suppliers, labels and import all help you keep the catalogue tidy. Season two covers these in detail.

Inventory is about stock. Stock levels shows what you hold at each store. Purchase orders, transfers and stock counts are how stock moves in, between stores, and gets checked.

Scroll the menu down for the rest.

Marketing holds promotions and price books.

The Online store group is for selling on the web. It holds the overview and the web orders, the online products, collections, pages, blog and forms, and the themes, shipping and tax of your online store. Season ten covers it.

Insights has your reports and accounting periods.

Audit and resilience records who did what, and shows sales that were made while a register was offline. Devices lists your registers and scanners.

Last comes Admin. Staff is your team and their roles. Settings is where you set up the store itself, and that is where we start in the next episode.

2:46 Switching store and signing out

At the top right is the store you are working in. If you have more than one store, click it to switch.

Next to it is your own menu, with your profile and Sign out. Always sign out on a shared computer.

That is the tour. In the next episode we open Settings and fill in your store details, currency and receipts.
