0:00 Introduction

In this episode we set up the basics of your store: your details, currency, cash rounding, what prints on a receipt, and the loyalty programme.

0:11 Finding the settings

Open Settings from the bottom of the menu. The first tab, Store settings, is the one we want. The other tabs are for later episodes.

0:20 Store details

The Store card holds your name, phone, email, website and address. These appear on your receipts, so check them carefully.

Let's change the phone number. Click the field and type the new one.

Notice the bar at the bottom. It was saying all changes saved. Now it has a Save settings button waiting for you. Nothing changes until you press it.

0:45 Currency and locale

Scroll down to the Regional card. Currency code is the three letter code, such as U S D for American dollars, with the symbol and the number of decimal places.

Locale controls how numbers and dates are written. E N dash U S is American style. A store in Britain would use E N dash G B.

1:06 Prices and cash rounding

Prices include tax is a switch. Off, as it is here, means the price on the shelf is before tax, and tax is added at the till, as in the United States. Switch it on if your shelf prices already include tax, as in most of Europe and Australia.

Cash rounding is for countries with no small coins. Open the list and choose a step. We will pick five cents, so cash totals round to the nearest five cents.

1:33 Receipts

The Receipt card has two text boxes. The header prints under your store name, and the footer prints at the bottom. Use the footer for your returns policy or a thank you.

Let's change the footer to say returns are accepted within fourteen days.

Print receipt barcode puts a barcode on each receipt, so a return can be found just by scanning it.

1:56 Loyalty

The Loyalty card turns your loyalty programme on or off. Customers earn points on what they spend. Points earned per dollar is how many they get, and the value of one point is what each is worth when spent.

The app works out the result for you. Here, customers get back one percent of what they spend. Minimum points to redeem stops tiny redemptions.

Let's make it two points per dollar.

The line under the fields updates straight away, to two percent.

2:26 Layaways, returns and inventory

Below that are layaway and returns rules: the smallest deposit for a layaway, how many days a customer has to return something, and whether a layaway must be attached to a customer.

Further down are register and inventory options, such as whether the register may sell items the system thinks are out of stock. The defaults suit most shops.

2:48 Saving

When you are happy, press Save settings.

The bar says all changes saved again. To prove it, we reload the page. The new phone number, footer and points are all still there.

That is your store set up. In the next episode we add your logo and colour, so every screen looks like your business.
