Enrol a phone or handheld scanner with a one-time code, sign in with your PIN, and find your way around the home screen.

Welcome to the stock room. In this episode we set up the scanner app on a phone or a handheld scanner, sign in, and look around the home screen.
0:10 Enrolling the device
The first time you open the scanner app, it asks to be enrolled. Enrolling tells your store that this phone or handheld is allowed to use it.
A manager makes a one-time code in the back office. They open Devices, choose Enrol a device, and pick Scanner. The code shows on their screen as a QR code and as plain letters. It works once, and runs out after fifteen minutes.
On a phone, tap Scan QR code and point the camera at the manager's screen. Here we will type the code instead.
You can also give the device a name, so the back office knows which one it is. That is optional. Now tap Enrol this device.

The scanner is enrolled. You only do that once. From now on, each person signs in with their own staff PIN.
Tap your PIN on the number pad. We are Stella, from the stock room.
1:05 The home screen
This is the home screen. The dark panel at the top shows your store, your name and your role.
Underneath is a quick price check. Scan a barcode, or type a code, right here, and you jump straight to the answer.
Below that are your tools, each in its own colour: price and stock, stock count, receive a purchase order, transfers, adjust stock, receive a single unit, expiring lots and low stock. You only see the tools your role allows.
At the top right, the cloud shows that the scanner is online and everything is synced.

The cog opens settings.
Here you can turn the camera on or off, choose the front camera, and switch the beep and the vibration on every scan on or off. On a handheld with a built-in scanner, turn off the automatic camera.
The server address is shown at the bottom, and so is the Sign out button. Sign out when you hand the scanner to someone else.
That is the set-up. Back on the home screen, you are ready to work.
