Attaching or creating a customer, loyalty points, store credit and house accounts.
0:00 Introduction
A sale gets more useful when you know who it is for. In this episode we attach a customer to a sale, create a new one, pay with store credit, and charge a sale to a house account.
0:12 Attaching a customer
We begin with a sale. A medium and a large hoodie.
At the top of the cart is Add customer. You can tap it, or press F4 on a keyboard. You can also scan a loyalty card with the barcode scanner.
A list of customers opens. Type a name, an email address, a phone number or a card number in the search box to find one. We type Avery.
Tap the customer to attach them to the sale.
The customer's name now sits at the top of the cart, with their loyalty points and any store credit they hold. Avery is a VIP, so every line also gets a customer discount automatically. You can see it in green, under each line.
Tap the name to see more. Here are their points, store credit, what they owe on account, how much they have spent in total, and their recent purchases.
1:06 Store credit
Store credit is money the customer holds with you, for example from a return. Close this window and tap Pay.
Because a customer is attached, the Store Credit method is now available. It was greyed out before, with the words needs customer. Tap it.
The register shows the store credit available. Avery has twenty five dollars. Tap Apply Store Credit to use all of it.
That covers most of the sale. The remainder is a little over twenty five dollars, so we take the rest in cash with the exact button.
1:40 Loyalty points
The sale is complete. Because a customer was attached, the receipt screen tells you how many loyalty points they earned on this sale. In this store, that is one point for every dollar of the sale, before tax.
The points are added to the customer for you. There is nothing to type. Tap New sale.
2:00 A new customer
Now a brand new customer. A medium hoodie first.
Tap Add customer again, and this time, tap New.
Type a first name and a last name. The email address and phone number are optional, but a receipt can be emailed if you have an address. Then tap Create.
The new customer is saved, and attached to the sale. Their points will show next time. Take cash, and finish as usual.
2:29 House accounts
Some customers, such as a local business, have a house account. They take the goods now and pay you later. Hank House has one. We scan a large hoodie, and attach Hank.
Tap Pay, and choose On Account.
The screen shows what Hank already owes, his credit limit, and how much credit is still available. The sale fits inside the limit, so tap Apply On Account.
No money changes hands. The amount is added to Hank's balance, and the receipt says On Account. If a sale goes over the limit, the register will not let you charge more than what is available.
Tap New sale to finish.
In the next episode, we take goods back, with a receipt and without one.
