0:00 Introduction

Every day starts the same way. In this episode you sign in to the register with your PIN, count the cash in the drawer, and take a quick tour of the sell screen.

0:11 Signing in

This is the PIN screen. The register stays locked until a team member signs in, so nobody can ring up a sale as someone else.

Tap your staff PIN on the number pad. Casey's PIN is one, one, one, one. The register shows dots, never the digits.

0:30 The opening float

The register is closed, so it asks you to open it. This starts your shift. Every sale you make is counted against this shift, and the register keeps one shift open at a time.

The opening float is the cash already sitting in the drawer to make change. Count it, and type the amount in. Today we have two hundred dollars.

If you would rather count note by note, the Count button helps you add it up. Then tap Open register.

0:58 The sell screen

You are on the sell screen, where you will spend most of your day. The top bar shows your store, the outlet and the register you are working on.

On the right of the top bar are the shortcuts. Retrieve brings back a parked sale or a layaway. Return takes goods back. Work orders is for repairs.

Your name is next to them, so you always know who is signed in. The padlock locks the register when you step away. Let's try it.

Anything on the screen is kept safe while it is locked. Enter your PIN again to carry on where you left off.

1:35 Finding products

On the left you find products. The scan box at the top takes a barcode from a scanner, or you can type a name and search.

Under it are three tabs. Quick keys holds the products you pin for fast access. Long press any product to pin it. Until then, it simply lists the products.

Categories groups products by department. Tap one to see what is inside, and the all link takes you back.

Search finds products by name, SKU or barcode as you type in the scan box. Back on Quick keys, let's pick a product by hand.

2:12 The cart

Tap a product tile and it lands in the cart on the right. The cart is the sale you are building. Above it you can add a customer, which we cover in a later episode.

Under the cart are the subtotal, the tax and the total. Park puts a sale on hold, Layaway sets goods aside for a deposit, and the three dots hold coupons, discounts and notes. The big green button takes payment.

We will not sell anything today. Let's clear this sale with the three dots menu.

2:42 The main menu

One more thing. The three dots at the very top right open the main menu.

Here you find recent sales, the sync queue, cash management, no sale to open the drawer, a gift card balance check, customer lookup, and clocking in and out. Sign out is at the bottom.

That is the register open and ready. In the next episode, we ring up your first sale.
